Velvet Elvis Arts started as an idea for a cafe or bookstore in 1990 when my now husband and I met in Portland, Maine
and the next day found ourselves stranded in a canoe together in the Kennebeck River for 3 hours talking about our dreams
and goals. Now over 17 years and two children later, we finally have our little business. We are fond of word play so
Velvet Elvis is first off about loving the sound of those two words together...secondly, it ties in with my roots and love
for good ole' classic Elvis.
I am a girl from the south, with deep Kentucky roots...but I pretty much have been raised in Southern Cali. and now am
raising my girls in Central California (the coast, that is).
